Professional Associations
These are associations that generally have doctors and therapists who specialize in the treatment of Myofascial Pain. While we recommend searching these organizations for a therapist or doctor, we leave it to you to interview the practitioner for your own case.
Myofascial Pain Therapists
National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists
This is one of the first places to start. These therapists are, for the most part, completely entrenched in the world of myofascial pain due to trigger points. These therapists have the credential CMTPT or MTPT.
Neuromuscular Therapy (Judith Walker DeLany Trained)
If you are unable to find a Trigger Point Therapist then the next closest thing are Neuromuscular Therapists trained by Judith Walker Delany. These therapists have the credential NMT.
Holistic Doctors
We highly recommend utilizing the services of one of these practitioners, if you can find one near you. They are licensed medical professionals bearing the credentials of either MD (Medical Doctor) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) who have taken it upon themselves to complete additional training to better suit the patients who have chronic conditions which go unresolved by conventional medicine.
American Holistic Medical Association
This association is dedicated to providing not only doctors, but complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) providers. This is an excellent resource to find a doctor who can manage your care. The current president of this organization, Hal Blatman MD, is also a specialist in the treatment of Myofascial Pain and the author of the Winner’s Guide to Pain Relief which is the first book listed in the “Books” section below.
American Board of Holistic Medicine
This is another organization similar to the American Holistic Medical Association. If you are looking for a practitioner, we recommend not specifying a zip code, rather search by state to see if you can find a practitioner you would be willing to travel to for care. If you experience chronic pain and fatigue it will be worth the travel.
Books
Below is a list of books our patients have found to be helpful and we know you will as well.
